My Story
I'm Karen Duncan and I'm 58 years old. I lived in Seattle with my daughter,
Addison, for the last 18 years. She went off to college last August (Bowdoin in
Maine). Well, that left me with some open time and a desire to really find the best
"home base" to retire (because I really doubt I can stay put forever!). I've always
loved to travel but my favorite way is to stay long enough to experience how people
really live. In 2005, I took my daughter to Florence, Italy and she attended 6th
grade there. It was a great year-long experience for both of us. In the summer of
2010, we did the same in Cartagena, Colombia, both of us studying Spanish (one
more successfully than the other!).
Now, it's just me. I'm ready to look at real estate, meet friends for coffee, shop at
the farmer's market, go to happy hour and enjoy each of the cities on my list while
I'm making my choice.
